New Cover Art by Charlie S. Alway for I Am Michael Watcher Issue 2

The creators of I Am Michael Watcher, the serial mystery comic about a young man who wakes up with two weeks of his life missing and a grisly tattoo that matches the calling card of a serial killer that’s been wreaking havoc on the private school campus that he attends, are set to release the second issue of the series. In addition to the new issue’s release, Charlie Alway has created new cover art that will be thematic and will run the rest of the first story arc (issues 1-6). Issue 1 will also receive a new variant cover that will match the same theme. Check it out!

Kickstarter Launch to Coincide with IAMW Issue 2 Release

As the creators of I Am Michael Watcher, Charlie (artist) and I (Brian, writer) are excited about two things: The release of issue two and the launch of our Kickstarter campaign. The two will happen simultaneously within the next two weeks.

The release of issue two marks our second comic together and even though we are early in the series, it’s extremely cool to have done this (make a comic) twice! I am completely enamored with the experience. Charlie is such a hard-worker and I am loving his vision for our story. For both of us, this particular issue is different from the first in so many ways. Issue 1 was really more like the introduction to a tragic circumstance, two characters, and the mystery that links them. It was a simple introductory story but necessary for the story as a whole because of the mystery itself – Who is Michael Watcher? Who’s committing the murders? Are they connected? And how is Luqas Cohen linked to it all? Issue 2 [we] actually get to go outside Allie’s room and into Luqas’ and Allie’s world where they are high school students in a private academy. One of the cool things about this issue is how [we] get to experience Luqas’ return at  the same time he does and the causalities that come from his mysterious absence and subsequent return two weeks later… This is most interesting when he comes face to face with his girlfriend, Mercury.

Sneak Peak of Issue 2: The Coldest Winter Ever!

Image As the month of January comes to a close, most people on the East Coast have been dealing with what meteorologists have deemed some of the coldest temperatures in twenty years. Well, sounds a like a perfect time to wrap up in blankets, sip on some hot chocolate, and get caught up on some long overdue reading… I for one have definitely enjoyed such a time, but in addition to my catching up on reading, my co-creator and I have been ramping up for the release of issue two of our serial comic thriller, I Am Michael Watcher, due out on Feb. 25th to some Virginia stores, but worldwide via the internet and in digital versions. It seems almost fitting to be releasing this title during the winter months because mysteries and thrillers can carry a kind of coldness to them that chills to the very bone of an individual’s humanity if embarked upon with a certain lure for discovering the unknown. I Am Michael Watcher as a series is designed just for that – the lure of the unknown – and as readers crack open issue two (or if you’re on a digital version – scroll or glide) they will discover that the darkness that covers the light is analogous to the secrets that hide the truth.

Without giving too much away, issue two of I Am Michael Watcher takes [us] deeper into Luqas’ world as he tries to fitfully reclaim his life after being missing for two weeks and reassert himself into the lives of the people that he left behind without knowing why or how he came to be missing for that period of time. Issue Two is the beginning of this journey and what Luqas finds out is that in two weeks a lot of things have changed.

If you have NOT read issue one of I Am Michael Watcher please email the creators at skinnyboystudio@gmail.com for a FREE PDF of issue 1 for a limited time ONLY. Join in on the mystery of WHO IS MICHAEL WATCHER?

I Am Michael Watcher Issue # 1 “Deathly Body Art.”

Luqas Cohen is a world of trouble. If you’ve read issue one, then you pretty much already know that two weeks of his life is missing, he has this really funky/grisly tattoo on his abdomen that reads, “I Am Michael Watcher,” and there have been a couple of murders while he’s been missing from his academy (school) and all of the victims carry the same tattoo! But to top it all off, the latest victim, is his best friend’s roommate and LUQAS JUST FOUND HER I.D. CARD IN HIS POCKET!!!

There are several things that are going on in this story, but it’s clear that this is a mystery from the beginning. Luqas is undoubtedly [our] protagonist here. This story kind of follows him but only in the sense of keeping up with how he is connected to all of the unknowns. Luqas is [our] primary catalyst for launching and moving this story along. [We] really want the readers to buy into this world where a sixteen year old boy that’s off at boarding school and his friends are thrust into the midst of a murder mystery that is rabbit hole deep. It’s not just about Luqas, as the readers will later find out, but it’s about the identities of all the characters as [we] go on this journey of discovering “Who is Michael Watcher?” Moreover, this comic book series, as the first issue introduces, is about identities and who people really are. There are layers to people — they have pasts and histories that are hidden sometimes or even just avoided and exactly how much of that affect the present?

I Am Michael Watcher Issue # 1 is meant to prompt readers to have questions. No one should finish reading the comic without saying or thinking, “What the heck is going on?…” or “Who is Michael Watcher?”… or “Why is the one girl [Carlee Archee] dead and Luqas is alive when they both have the same tattoo?” Those are just some of the questions that could be asked by the end of the first book, but it’s all to get the reader to wonder, ponder, even speculate. The awesome thing is that once [you] are on this ride, [you] have the pleasure of knowing that there is an end. [We] are not going to string you along for 100 issues or even 50. I Am Michael Watcher has a specific and timed ending… Eighteen (18) issues until all questions are answered… But hey, you will know who Michael Watcher is by issue# 6.

Issue # 2 will be out at the end of January so in between now and that time, please post a question or comment and [we] will add it to the Letters Page at the end of Issue # 2 with [our] response. Looking forward to taking this journey of discovery with you guys! Image.
